The Angry Woman Cabaret was a variety show that featured the many talents of local Spokane women. There was belling dancing, ballet, drumming, hip hop, and fashion. I had an exceptional time shooting such an array of performances by such skilled artists. This show benefited local nonprofit Transitions, which helps low-income and homeless women of Spokane get back on their feet.

I only made it up snowboarding a few times this season. But this day was notable, not only because of the heavy fog, but also because of the foot of new snow that fell the night before. Joining Ashley and myself on the hazy slopes was our friend Kate Wheeler. The three of us ripped up the tree runs with all the joy that comes with cutting through buttery, soft snow.

I’ve been snowboarding at Mt. Spokane a number of times, but when my family was in town we selected cross country skiing as an outdoor activity of choice. It’s a different perspective of the mountain compared to snowboarding—especially when you don’t have any edges.

I had the great opportunity to photograph the Women Transitioning Women benefit concert. Hosted by local female artists the concert benefited Transitions, a local nonprofit that helps low-income and homeless women and children in Spokane. I had a blast photographing the very talented artists who performed all original songs. The concert, which took place at The Bing Crosby Theater featured: Colleen Rice, Kari Marguerite & the 76, Stephanie Hatzinikolis, Jesi B and The All Rites, Liz Rognes, and The Perennials. The follow up concert will take place in May 2012.

This was my first time in the Bing and I was pleasantly surprised to discover what a cool building it is. The below image, taken during sound check, shows a bit of the ornate moldings and lighting.

Alix’s shoot was a great senior portrait session to end the year on. She did an awesome job modeling, the locations rocked, and we were gifted with a wonderful cerulean sky. In particular I really loved how the blues, reds, and purples set each other off in the first photo.

We had a great time photographing Kyle in this wooded area near the Dwight Merkel Sports Complex. The location is a favorite spot for Kyle and his family to walk their dog and enjoy some Spokane sunsets.
