I’ve been snowboarding at Mt. Spokane a number of times, but when my family was in town we selected cross country skiing as an outdoor activity of choice. It’s a different perspective of the mountain compared to snowboarding—especially when you don’t have any edges.

A small group of my friends and family gathered in Ferragut Park, a relaxed little campground in Northern Idaho. This final trip of Summer included some of the best aspects of vacation: good company, warm days, camp fires, and hiking. I even got to do a little night photography (see the first image of the post) in which I motionlessly shot a self portrait in the early morning.

Just a little ways out of Sandpoint, ID you can find the unique opportunity to visit Wolf People—a wolf education facility and habitat. Stop by their store at the right time and you might get to interact with a couple of wolf pups. But, pay for the tour and you’re guaranteed a close-up look at the 23 wolves which make up the pack—lucky patrons even get the chance to hold a wolf pup.

My parents decided to rent a condo on Coeur D’Alene Lake this summer for a week long family gathering. While we had planned on several excursions and outings, various travel constraints and an emergency root canal for my mom kept us hanging out at the condo most days. Which relaxing by the lake is still pretty good.

One activity we were able to participate in was biking the Hiawatha Trail. The Hiawatha is a most enjoyable trail that leads you through tunnels and across train trusses in a fairly leisurely route. Because the trail is privately operated you should expect to pay about $18 for a pass and bus transport, money well worth it because the ride is really pleasant and the views are great.

I can’t really estimate how long the trail takes to ride because myself and a few other members of the family stopped regularly to take pictures. Although I did try to keep things going by taking quite a few shots while on the go. It works fairly well but framing is a bit of a challenge.

My girlfriend‘s family came to visit her during her birthday. But, unfortunately she ended up having the flu during their stay. Taking advantage of the weather Saturday, we headed to Fort Walla Walla on a short walk—leaving Ashley to rest and get well.

Day five of our family reunion was our last on Eliza Island. We took the day to gain one more afternoon of ocean relaxation. Along with a photo shoot (post to follow soon).

On the fourth day of our family reunion we headed back to Eliza Island to spend more time relaxing and enjoying the seaside. My girlfriend Ashley Ward made it up to Bellingham that afternoon to join us on Eliza Island. Puzzle assembling and crabbing were the activities of the day.
